If you have missed a period and think you may be pregnant...
- Do a pregnancy test. This can be done at a Family Health center, a diagnostic lab, or at home. To do it at home, you can buy a kit at any chemist or pharmacy and follow the instructions.
- If you are having a pregnancy test at a clinic, remember to tell the nurse or doctor the date of your last period. You will be asked to bring a urine sample taken in the morning.
- If the result is Negative, use this false alarm to make sure you start using contraception regularly!
- If the result is Positive, you must decide what you want to do. Talk to someone who can guide you (The most reliable would be a Gynaecologist).
- You have 3 choices: keeping the baby, giving the baby for adoption or an abortion.
- Seek an adult's advice to help you take a decision that will be best for you. Do not try and face this alone.
